Swage terminals for standing rigging are often the most cost effective way to reproduce your standing rigging. In northern latitudes it's not unusual for us to see standing rigging that is 20 to 25 years old using swage terminals. In southern latitudes swage terminals tend to develop rust within the fitting faster due to temperature and increased salinity and the shanks of the swage fitting will crack. We recommend swaged upper ends and mechanical terminals for the lower ends on standing rigging for boats in southern climates to be the most cost effective. If your going to use mechanical terminals on your lower ends select the appropriate Sta-Lok, Hi-Mod,or Noresman stud in the mechanical terminal section than order turnbuckles with FBJ in their part numbers listed below (body and jaw only)

Rigging turnbuckles are one of the few things we won't issue an opinion on. About the only way you can check turnbuckles is to visually inspect each component. Unfortunately due to metal degradation over time there is really no way of testing the strength of a turnbuckles threads
