25 Years and Still Growing

The Rigging Loft Inc was established in 1984 to provide sailboat rigging, yacht hardware and provide on site hands on, quality rigging services to sail makers, boat yards and boat builders in South Eastern Massachusetts.  The need for a direct link to the end consumer became evident in the late 80's as often we received orders for inappropriate and non compatible running rigging, standing rigging and hardware.  Pricing became an issue as many of our wholesale accounts failed to acknowledge the impact of the shrinking dollar of the late 80's and early 90's.  Rigging Only was established to fill this void.  Rigging Only is a sailboat shop dedicated to providing The highest quality yacht hardware, sailboat running rigging, sailboat standing rigging, sailboat life lines available.

We will not be publishing a hard catalog for 2008.  If you would like a copy of our 2007 we'd be happy to mail one to you while supplies last.  Please remember the prices will not be accurate in the 2007.                            

We now stock and swage wire up to 5/8 diameter for standing rigging and architectural projects.  Larger sizes are available. 

Metric wire and swage fittings are available for standing rigging applications.  We will be able to provide swaged standing rigging assemblies as well as mechanical terminals (assembled or you assemble) to meet your needs at an affordable cost.  Initial stock will be 8-10-12mm.  Note the bulk of these fittings will have imperial pin and thread dimensions.

       E-Mail:  we're starting to see more returned E-mail as more systems and people install spam blockers, I guess we look like spam.  If you don't get an answer, it's not that we haven't tried.  Earthlink and AOL customers if you want your e-mail answered (returned) be sure and put us on your receiving list, we can't get through to you or use a different machine with a different service provider.  If you haven't received an answer in 2-3 days please call 508-992-0434 

Pricing:  Being that so many products for our boats are now made in Europe the falling dollar is creating havoc in the market place.  Most importers are trying to maintain list prices the same or close to last year's thinking you'll find their products still attractive. What is actually happening is the reduction of discount structures on the wholesale level.  End result is you'll pay more, your discount structure will look less and hopefully we'll make close to the same money.  If the dollar continues to fall during 2008 expect mid year price increases.  Thanks for your patience and continued support. 

Harken has introduced a MAP (minimum advertised price) policy.  This policy requires dealers to not advertise prices below specific levels.  Because of this policy and that we do not have a shopping cart on our site we are not able to display your actual purchase price on Harken gear.  If you are interested in Harken equipment you'll need to call, email or go to www.riggingandhardware.com  with part numbers for pricing.  Please note Forespar, Profurl, Lofrans, and Muir have the same policy and you will need to do the same.

Manufacturer's price increases are happening now.  Most prices on the site have now been updated, look for the 08 at the top of the page.  Note a few mfgs have already submitted price increases since this Jan.

On line shopping is here.  I'm sure there will be lots of improvements needed in our initial attempt but you will have access to pricing on all of our mfg's products.  Have manufacturers part numbers available and use the search function for current pricing for yacht hardware.

Comparing:  At Rigging Only we encourage price comparison.  We have noticed that some of the on line retailers have increased prices significantly.  Most of these folks have an office only and do not have any significant hands on experience with the gear you are purchasing.  Products are generally drop shipped from a wholesaler and the actual assemblies for running rigging, life lines, and standing rigging are contracted out to shops like ours and based on the discount they receive.  Many of these business's consist of folks who are programming people that happen to have sailing as a hobby.  We deal manufacture direct on 90% of our products.  We are a rigging service / sailboat shop, not a sailboat store with just an online presence.

 Rigging Only is a full rigging service shop owned and operated by riggers.  Our technicians are trouble shooting, problem solving, and repairing rigging on boats like yours everyday.  All running rigging, standing rigging, life lines, and wire splices, are made right here in our shop and have been for 24 years.  We know our products.  At Rigging Only we're sailors too.  We have the experience and appreciation for the demands placed on gear and people for both offshore and coastal cruising.
